December 09, 2010 - iPhone iPad application displaying images that were removed

Problem: iPhone iPad application displaying images that were removed from the computer and all references are deleted. This problem occurs on both iOS Simulator and on actual device. See details for the solution.

Solution: Once iOS Simulator is launched click on Reset Content and Settings (Under iOS Simulator in top navigation).
Also helpful, but did not work in our case:
-          In XCode Build -> Clean and Clean All Targets
-          Shift + Command + f to search for all references within a project
Associated tags:  Ipad, IPhone, IOS Simulator, Xcode
